Equine
Placement Program

Rama arrived September 19th 2008. She
is a placement horse and not a rescue.
Age: 30
Breed: Thoroughbred
Height: Approximately 15.1hh
Temperament: Seems to take everything in
stride, likes to be groomed
Health Issues:
-Worn down molars. Rama does munch on hay and grass She
maintains her weight on beet pulp (soaked), alfalfa pellets,
and Senior feed, mixed into a mash twice a day in the winter
and once a day in the summer. It takes about 5 minutes to
prepare.
-An old injury to her back left leg. Does not seem to bother
her, however there is a scar
-Does not seem to be arthritic although would likely benefit
from some supplements
-Good feet, she has never foundered or had any issues, she
is unshod
- Out of shape, she lathered herself up a fair bit when
going for a run around the paddock.
Vices: None known
Vaccinations: Tetanus & Rabies in August
2008
Worming: Wormed on September 20th, 2008,
prior to this her worming history is unknown
Riding:
Up until last year she was ridden on a regular basis and
then due to her owners job change she is out of the country
a great deal of the time. Rama was used as a pleasure horse
and ridden English. She did not like to jump.
Rama trailers well, baths, stands for grooming, ties, and
trots and canters around the pasture like a 15 year old.
Notes:
Rama prefers to stay outside, although she stayed in a stall
her first night at Blue Skies Ranch and was fine. She does
not need a blanket.
She was with her owner for 15 years and rarely left her
property. She was the only horse, so would do well as a
single horse, but is good with other horses.
She would be a great companion, possible light riding,
however we feel she would need at least an intermediate
rider to start her under saddle again.
Adoption:
Rama's adoption contract will require an agreement that her
feed will not be changed, unless on a veterinarians
recommendation, which must be supplied in writing.
Rama will require a visit from the veterinarian once every 8
months to be body scored and her diet analyzed. Blue Skies
Ranch must have access to these records.
It will also state that she can never be sold, traded, sent
to auction etc. and must be returned to Blue Skies Ranch
should her adopter no longer be able to keep her.
Transportation along with feed and vet expenses are the
responsibility of
the adopters.
A feed quote can be given to potential adopters.
